The pattern of life is frustration: it casts a shadow on our leisure and our work.
Although our lives may seem to be happy on the surface, a sense of deep satisfaction or incompleteness may linger underneath, a sense for which we can find no definite cause.
When we think about it, however, we see that this sense comes from knowing that we are not using our lives as productively as we could.
It is so easy to put off doing what we know is important or even meaningful for our lives.
But waiting for the future is like waiting for a bus that never comes.
Unless we soon start doing what we feel is important, we will get nowhere.
Taking action, however, is not an easy task, because it means taking charge of our lives and learning to be honest with ourselves in unaccustomed ways.
