Compassion is bigger

In other words, compassion is not a matter of exchange, a gesture of sympathy that we hand over like a token in exchange for someone’s perceived suffering.

We don’t feel compassion because of anything or in response to anything; compassion is bigger than that.

It requires no cause, and it takes no object.

In its openness, all beings are enfolded, and in its pure positivity, no residues of having suffered remain. TNMC Annals
